DETECTIVES hunting a dangerous and violent man who has been on the run for almost a month are to make a nationwide TV appeal in a last-ditch bid to find him.

Michael Easy became Southampton’s most wanted man after gate-crashing a party last month and allegedly subjecting a teenage girl to a terrifying attack in which he cut her throat with an eight-inch knife.

The 19-year-old victim was also hit in the face, hurt on her thigh and dragged into the street before she struggled free and ran away.

As reported by the Daily Echo, 27-year-old Easy is a known criminal with a history of violence against women.

Hundreds of police officers across Hampshire have been put on alert to find him since the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, while members of the public have been warned not to approach him because he is dangerous.

However despite “intense” work to locate him, he has still not been found.

The Daily Echo revealed how, just 24 hours after the vicious assault, as police searched for him, he was brazenly updating his Facebook page with a picture of himself.

On July 3, an appeal will be made on the BBC Crimewatch programme detailing the allegations and his picture.

Leading the hunt, acting Detective Chief Inspector Paul Gelman has previously told how lines of inquiry were launched thanks to members of the public who came forward to offer information about Easy.

He revealed how officers were also aware of Easy using websites to contact people.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Southampton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
